Paint the Town Announces Cheviot as 2012 Community
Paint the Town – a program of Give Back Cincinnati that paints the exterior of dozens of houses in a single community in a single day – announced Cheviot as its 2012 community. Paint the Town organizers will work closely with Cheviot city officials to execute the event, which will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2012.
“Cheviot is a tight-knit community with a great sense of spirit. We can’t wait to connect with homeowners and make an impact there,” said Lindsay Maurer, Paint the Town lead.
“We’re thrilled to have been selected as the 2012 Paint the Town community,” said Ray Kroner, president of the Cheviot-Westwood Community Association. “Paint the Town is a great concept… we appreciate Give Back Cincinnati’s community awareness and look forward to seeing what this project will do for our community.”
Paint the Town is a community service event, organized by Give Back Cincinnati, during which volunteers work within a targeted neighborhood to paint the exterior of owner-occupied homes for those unable to do the work themselves. The single-day event mobilizes more than 1,000 volunteers with the goal to not only improve the appearance and value of each home, but to impact the overall community.
Homes are selected through an application process based on a homeowner’s physical and financial need. Each home is sponsored by local businesses and painted entirely by volunteers who are led by experienced team leaders.
Applications will be available Jan. 1, 2012 at Cheviot City Hall, local businesses and churches, or by visiting the Paint the Town website at www.paintthetowncincinnati.org.
Now in its eleventh year, Paint the Town has painted more than 300 houses in the communities of East End, Price Hill (twice), Northside, Madisonville, Hartwell/Carthage, College Hill, Avondale and Evanston in Ohio, and Covington, Bellevue and Dayton in Ken. Neighborhoods are chosen through a competitive process according to current needs.
