Paint the Town Moves into Avondale and Evanston
Give Back Cincinnati’s 9th Annual Paint the Town comes to Avondale and Evanston, Saturday, June 12, 2010.
CINCINNATI — January 26, 2010 — Give Back Cincinnati’s 9th Annual Paint the Town will be coming to two neighborhoods, Avondale and Evanston, on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Community partners for the event this year will be Avondale & Evanston’s Community Councils; providing a valued connection and assistance between residents and the Paint the Town organization.
Patricia Milton, from Avondale’s Community Council said “Avondale is elated to be selected for Paint the Town 2010. Fresh coats of paint for a number of our homeowners will be a blessing and have a positive impact on the ongoing work to beautify our community and improve the lives of our residents. We are diligently working to make Avondale an attractive, welcoming and great place to live, work, worship and play! We are looking forward to working with Give Back Cincinnati and plan to take up our paint brushes and help get the job done.”
Anzora Adkins, President of the Evanston Community Council, is excited about the partnership as well and believes it will allow “Evanston (to be) on the move again! We are so excited and thankful for Give Back Cincinnati to paint homes in our community."
Paint the Town (http://paintthetowncincinnati.org/) is a community service event organized by Give Back Cincinnati in which volunteers work within a targeted neighborhood to paint owner-occupied homes for those physically or financially unable to do the work themselves. Paint the Town is a single day event that organizes more than 1,000 volunteers led by experienced team leaders to completely repaint a home’s exterior. Neighborhoods are chosen through a competitive process according to current needs. Paint the Town’s ultimate goal is to not only improve the appearance and value of each of the homes, but to impact the overall community.
Price Hill residents, Danny and Chris Case saw their home painted in 2009’s edition “was very impressed with the whole program.” Donna Lucas, another Price Hill resident that saw her house painted, added “everything went smoothly and our house was transformed before my eyes! I don’t think anyone could be prepared for the enthusiasm and friendliness of everyone who came to help. It’s really an overwhelming feeling to see people on ladders crawling all over the house on their own free Saturday.”
The applications were made available to Avondale and Evanston’s residents at various locations throughout the two communities, as well as online at the Paint the Town website. As Marilyn Kircher, a Price Hill resident that had her home painted by Paint the Town in June 2009, stated “I really had no clue as to expectations. I kind of waited for the proverbial shoe to drop and it never did. At every turn my worries were met with answers far above my expectations.”

Now in its ninth year, Paint the Town has painted more than 200 houses in the communities of East End, Price Hill, Northside, Madisonville, Hartwell/Carthage, College Hill, Covington, Ky. and last year for the second time in Price Hill.
