We are *so* excited to be painting the homes of 26 deserving families throughout the communities of Avondale & Evanston this weekend. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated! You will find final event details below; as a reminder, if you haven’t yet signed up, you may do so here! Volunteers MUST sign our liability waiver and provide emergency contact information in order to volunteer with us.
7:45 am — Check-in begins
8:30 am — Announcements
8:45 am — Volunteers head to buses
9:00 am — Painting begins!
4:00 pm (ish) — Painting concludes! Once your house is painted, supplies have been cleaned up, and your house has received a final OK from the Area Lead… a bus will bring you back to the after-party!
4:00 pm — MadTree kegs tapped and after-party begins!
6:00 pm — After-party concludes
Location & Parking
Check-in will take place at Walnut Hills High School. Volunteers may enter parking lots A-D from either Gilbert Ave. or Jonathan Ave. Additional parking will be available on Sulsar Street and surrounding side streets. The GPS address is 1515 Jonathan Ave 45207.
Paint the Town Parking Volunteers will be in neon vests and will help direct traffic to recommended parking areas. Please see a detailed parking diagram below. We encourage you to carpool or rideshare if possible!
Check-in will take place in the Walnut Hills High School Gymnasium. If you registered on a CORPORATE SPONSOR team, go DIRECTLY to your corporate team table to sign in (tables will be roughly in alphabetical order). If you registered with a GROUP, GENERAL VOLUNTEER or as a NON-PAINTING VOLUNTEER, sign in at the MAIN REGISTRATION TABLE, where you will be assigned a house/task and directed where to go.
Once you sign in, grab breakfast and hang tight until announcements with your team/group until at 8:30 a.m.
Buses will transport volunteers to the houses for the day. When you check in with your team, your bus number will be on the registration sheet. VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DRIVE THEMSELVES TO THEIR HOUSES.
What to Wear & Bring
You will be given a t-shirt to wear at check-in. Otherwise, wear clothes that you aren’t afraid to get dirty. Your shoes should be sturdy with closed toes (no flip-flops) and don’t forget to apply sunscreen and bug spray! You may want to bring a hat/sunglasses, but leave your valuables at home. If you prefer to use your own tools, you are welcome to bring them with you.
Regardless of the forecast, rain or shine, please plan on showing up in the morning for registration. Any changes to the schedule due to weather will be determined at registration.
A grab-and-go breakfast of granola bars, fruit, juice, and coffee will be available during check-in in the Walnut Hills gym. Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and cookies will be delivered to your house between 11:30a to 12:30p. Ham, turkey and a vegetarian option are available. If you have special dietary needs, we recommend bringing a bagged lunch. Houses will have light snacks and water to refill your water bottle and provided stadium cups. Our friends at Catch-A-Fire are generously providing pizza at the after party!
After a hard day of work please join us for Paint the Town AFTER-PARTY! This will take place in a lot adjacent to the high school. There will be music, games, pizza generously provided by Catch-A-Fire, and of course MadTree beer. No matter your age, REMEMBER to bring your ID, you will need a wristband in order to drink. You will receive two beer tickets.
